On Monday, June 1st, Ukraine marked the 1559th day of Russia's full-scale war. The situation on the frontline remains tense, yet at the same time new diplomatic signals have emerged regarding possible progress in the peace process.

According to Volodymyr Zelenskyy, a window of opportunity currently exists for substantive peace talks between Ukraine and Russia, which remains open until winter 2026. The Ukrainian president stressed that this period is critical and diplomatic pressure should continue in order to create conditions for a genuine peace process.

The economic pressures accompanying the war have begun to affect Russia itself – fuel sales restrictions, which have long prevailed in various Russian regions, have now reached the capital Moscow. This is an indication that the consequences of the war economy are spreading more widely.
