Trump: Iran has agreed to give up nuclear weapons

US President Donald Trump announced that Iran has provided assurances that it will not pursue nuclear weapons development. At the same time, Trump sent Tehran a more stringent peace proposal. This represents a significant diplomatic step in the tense relationship between the two countries.

US President Donald Trump announced that he has received confirmation from Iran that the country does not intend to develop nuclear weapons. According to Trump, Iran has provided such an assurance that could be an important step in the two countries' long-standing dispute over the nuclear issue.

At the same time, it emerged that Trump sent Tehran a tougher peace proposal, suggesting that the US is prepared to negotiate but wants stricter terms. This dual strategy—positive signals on one hand and stricter demands on the other—reflects the US administration's negotiation tactics with Iran.

Iran has faced international pressure for years over its nuclear programme, which Western countries assess is aimed at developing nuclear weapons. Tehran has consistently denied this, claiming that it is a peaceful nuclear energy programme. The nuclear agreement JCPOA concluded in 2015 partially ended these tensions, but Trump withdrew from that agreement during his first term in 2018.

If Iran's assurances prove genuine and a new agreement is reached, it could significantly alter the security situation in the Middle East and open the way for Iran's broader international integration. However, many analysts remain sceptical, as negotiations between Iran and the US have repeatedly failed in the past.
