EestiOn Wednesday, the Transport Board, together with the Defence Forces, carried out another bridge demolition – this time in Türi Parish, Järvamaa, where the Jõeküla Bridge (formerly known as Piiometsa Bridge) that spanned the Lintsi River was reduced to rubble.
The demolition took place under controlled conditions and is part of a broader infrastructure renewal and military defence capability strengthening programme, under which obsolete bridges are regularly demolished. In recent years, the Transport Board has organised several similar operations across Estonia.
The Jõeküla Bridge was located in Türi Parish over the Lintsi River, and its condition no longer met safety and operational requirements. The involvement of the Defence Forces in bridge demolitions has become standard practice, as the military possesses the necessary equipment and expertise for such work.
