Tallinn City Electoral Commission on Monday decided to extend the suspension of city council membership for three politicians. The suspension affects two European Parliament members and one Riigikogu member.

Reform Party European Parliament member Urmas Paet and Social Democrat Sven Mikser continue their work in the European Parliament, and therefore their Tallinn city council membership powers remain suspended. The suspension of Riigikogu member Andre Hanimägi of the Social Democratic Party was also extended.

Under Estonian law, a single person cannot simultaneously perform the duties of members of multiple representative bodies, so these politicians must suspend their city council work when taking up higher office.
