Small Dwarf Spitz Falls Victim to Fighting Dog Attack in Lasnamäe
A dwarf spitz was attacked by a fighting dog during a walk in Lasnamäe. The aggressive dog's owner left the scene without offering assistance. The injured dog faces a long recovery and treatment ahead.
EestiIn Tallinn's Lasnamäe district, a dwarf spitz fell victim to an attack by a fighting dog during a walk. The dog's owner describes the terrifying moment: "It screamed in pain" — that cry remained vividly etched in her memory as the larger dog attacked her small pet.
What makes the incident particularly shocking is that the aggressive dog's owner did nothing to stop the attack. According to witnesses, the dog's owner left the scene, abandoning the injured animal and its distressed owner.
The injured dwarf spitz now requires treatment and a lengthy recovery period. The owner has had to completely restructure her daily life to care for her injured pet, putting a significant strain on the family.
Tallinn's municipal police, whose responsibility includes dog incidents in public spaces, also commented on the situation. Officials reminded dog owners that they are responsible for their animals' behaviour and that aggressive dogs must be kept on a leash and, if necessary, muzzled.
The incident raises the question once again of whether dangerous dog ownership regulations are being followed on Tallinn's streets. Experts recommend that in case of a dog attack, one should always contact both a veterinarian and the municipal police so that there is an official record of the incident.
