Toni Reinart, a convicted serial pedophile with multiple prior offences against young girls, appeared before Harju County Court in Tallinn on Monday to plead for early release from prison.

«I want to go to work and I have a supportive family,» Reinart told the court during the hearing on his conditional early release application.

The court reviewed his petition despite the fact that Reinart has been convicted and punished on multiple occasions, and his past crimes were far from isolated incidents — prosecutors have previously characterised his behaviour as a pattern of targeting small girls.

The case has drawn public attention given the severity and repeated nature of Reinart's offences. Estonian law allows prisoners to apply for early release after serving a portion of their sentence, provided they can demonstrate rehabilitation and low risk of reoffending — criteria that critics argue are difficult to assess in cases involving repeat sexual predators.

The court has not yet issued a ruling on whether Reinart will be granted early release. The outcome of the hearing is expected to be closely watched by victim advocacy groups and the public alike.
