Serbia president: No visa requirements for Russia
Serbia president Aleksandar Vučić announced that Serbia does not plan to introduce visa requirements for Russian citizens. This decision sets Serbia apart from many European countries that have imposed travel restrictions on Russian citizens.
PoliitikaSerbia president Aleksandar Vučić confirmed that Belgrade does not intend to introduce a visa regime for Russian citizens. The statement comes at a time when many European countries have restricted free movement for Russians due to Russian aggression in Ukraine.
This position clearly distinguishes Serbia from its potential EU partner countries, most of which have either completely closed their borders to Russian citizens or imposed strict visa restrictions on them. Serbia has meanwhile maintained air connections with Russia at a time when these have been largely suspended elsewhere in Europe.
Serbia has traditionally sought to maintain relations with both Russia and the European Union, being officially in accession negotiations with the EU, while simultaneously refusing to join Western sanctions against Russia. Vučić's statement confirms that this dual-track policy will continue.
