Russian online service "Kinopoisc," considered the largest film platform in Russia, introduced a new rule for its users. From now on, publishing reviews of films is prohibited within the first four weeks after their official theatrical release. This was reported by Cinemaplex.

The new restriction affects all registered users of the platform, who previously could share their impressions of films almost immediately after visiting a cinema. Now they will have to wait almost a month before leaving a review.

The management of "Kinopoisc" has not yet provided public explanations regarding the reasons for introducing such a moratorium. Critics and ordinary users are already actively discussing the innovation on social networks, viewing it as a restriction on freedom of speech on the platform and a possible attempt to protect box office earnings from negative reviews in the first weeks of theatrical release.
