Rain showers expected across Estonia this weekend

Estonia will be caught between a high-pressure system from Southern Scandinavia and a weakening low-pressure zone moving over Karelia this Saturday. Eastern Estonia will see cloudier skies and occasional rain showers, while Western Estonia will enjoy clearer conditions. Overnight frost remains possible under clear skies as air temperatures are still cold.

This Saturday, Estonia will sit on the boundary between a high-pressure area spreading from Southern Scandinavia across the Baltic Sea and a weakening low-pressure system moving in from northern Russia toward Karelia. The contrast between these two weather systems will create notably different conditions across the country.

Eastern Estonia is set to experience cloudier skies with intermittent rain showers throughout the day. Western Estonia, meanwhile, will largely escape the precipitation, benefiting from clearer skies associated with the high-pressure influence from the south and west.

Despite daytime warming, overnight temperatures remain a concern. With clear skies over parts of Estonia, ground frost is possible during the night, as the air mass sitting over the country is still carrying the chill of early spring. Residents in rural areas should take precautions to protect frost-sensitive plants. By daytime, however, the air mass is expected to warm up rapidly as solar heating takes effect.
