EestiHarju County Court in Estonia delivered a guilty verdict on Tuesday against Tõnis Sildaru, ruling that he had misappropriated the property of his then-minor daughter, internationally celebrated freeskier Kelly Sildaru.
The court sentenced Tõnis Sildaru to two years in prison, with the sentence suspended under a two-year probationary period. This means he will avoid serving time behind bars provided he does not reoffend during the probation window.
The case has drawn significant public attention in Estonia, given Kelly Sildaru's status as one of the country's most prominent young athletes. She rose to global fame as a teenage freeskiing phenomenon, winning multiple X Games titles and World Cup events, and the misuse of funds she earned during her early career formed the basis of the charges against her father.
