France is taking steps to reduce the country's dependence on imported oil and steer the economy toward greater use of domestically produced electricity. The plan encompasses both the transport sector and industry.

The wider adoption of electric vehicles is seen as one of the main tools through which fuel consumption and oil imports can be significantly reduced. France has a strong nuclear energy-based electricity generation foundation, which makes the transition to electric mobility strategically advantageous.

Beyond transport, the industrial sector is also in focus, where replacing oil and gas-based processes with electricity would contribute to both energy security and the achievement of climate targets. France's energy model, which relies heavily on nuclear power plants, gives the country an advantage over other European nations whose electricity production is more dependent on fossil fuels.
