Ida-VirumaaA 13-year-old boy was injured on 21 May in Narva when football goals fell on him. The incident occurred at a sports field located on the site of the demolished former Soldina school building, where a futsal-format football pitch is situated.
According to the boy's mother, the child hung from the goals during play, which were not anchored to the ground or otherwise secured. The goals lost their balance and fell on the child. To treat the injury, doctors had to stitch a 10 cm wound.
The incident raises questions about the safety of sports facilities in Narva. Freestanding and unanchored football goals pose a serious risk to children, for whom such fields are popular play areas. Experts have repeatedly warned that unanchored goals can cause serious injuries or even death.
