Evelin Poolamets set to join ERR Council
The Riigikogu's Culture Committee has proposed naming EKRE member Evelin Poolamets to the Estonian Public Broadcasting (ERR) Council as a new member. She will replace Varro Vooglaid on the council.
EestiThe Riigikogu's Culture Committee recommends naming Evelin Poolamets, a member of the Conservative People's Party of Estonia (EKRE) faction in the Riigikogu, as a new member of the Estonian Public Broadcasting (ERR) Council. The committee's proposal was made following the need to find a replacement for the current council member Varro Vooglaid.
Poolamets is a member of the EKRE parliamentary faction, and her appointment to the ERR Council must be confirmed by the Riigikogu in plenary session. The ERR Council is the highest governing body of the public broadcaster, which oversees the operations of the broadcaster and approves the organisation's strategic decisions.
ERR Council members are appointed by the Riigikogu, and the council's composition typically reflects the balance of forces among parliament's parliamentary groups. Confirmation of Evelin Poolamets's candidacy by the Riigikogu is expected in the near future.
