Estonian retail sales growth slows in April to 2% year-on-year

Estonian retail sector sales reached 954 million in April 2025, according to data released by Statistics Estonia. The figure represents a 2% increase compared to April of the previous year, but marks a 4% drop from March 2025, signalling a slowdown in the sector's growth momentum.

The monthly decline reflects seasonal patterns as well as shifting consumer behaviour across product categories. Motor fuel retailers bucked the broader trend, recording another increase in sales volumes during the month.

Food retail, however, continued its downward trajectory, extending a period of declining sales that has persisted over recent months. The trend may indicate that consumers are adjusting their spending habits amid ongoing pressures on household budgets.
