Estonian high-ranking officials' income: three exceeded the one million euro mark

Financial declarations from Estonian politicians and high-ranking state officials have been made public. Three officials earned more than one million euros last year, while some declared zero income. Public data also reveals who has mortgages exceeding half a million euros.

The previous year's financial declarations from Estonia's highest-ranking state officials and politicians reveal significant differences in income levels. Three officials saw their annual income exceed the one million euro mark, placing them among the country's wealthiest employees.

Millionaires in state service

The declaration data shows that working in the state sector does not necessarily mean a modest salary. The highest-earning officials have accumulated their wealth from both their primary salaries and other sources, including investments and real estate.

Zero declarations raise questions

At the same time, some high-ranking officials have declared virtually no income at all. This raises questions in the public about their actual financial situation and what sources fund their daily lives.

Mortgages in the half-million range

The declarations also reveal that many senior officials have significant mortgages, in some cases exceeding half a million euros. This reflects both high property market prices and officials' desire to invest in real estate.
