Estonian Duck Rally organiser: this event keeps hope alive for all of us
Luive Merilai, a board member of the Estonian Association of Parents of Children with Cancer, says the Pardiralli charity event gives hospitalised children and their families reassurance that they are not alone. The annual rally raises both funds and spirits for those affected by childhood cancer in Estonia.
EestiLuive Merilai, a board member of the Estonian Association of Parents of Children with Cancer (Eesti Vähihaigete Laste Vanemate Liit), spoke on the morning programme 'Terevisioon' about the significance of the Pardiralli — Estonia's beloved charity duck rally — for families dealing with childhood cancer.
Merilai emphasised that the event does far more than raise money. According to her, the Pardiralli keeps hope alive for everyone involved and sends a powerful message to children undergoing cancer treatment in hospital, as well as to their parents: they are not facing their struggles alone.
«This event gives children in hospital and their parents confirmation that they are not alone, because many people care and support them,» Merilai said, describing the emotional impact the rally has on affected families across Estonia.
The Pardiralli is one of Estonia's most recognisable charity events, bringing together thousands of participants each year in support of children battling serious illness. The funds raised go towards improving the lives of young cancer patients and supporting their families during difficult times.
Merilai's appearance on 'Terevisioon' came as organisers look to build awareness ahead of the event, encouraging Estonians from all walks of life to participate and show solidarity with the country's most vulnerable young patients.
