The victory represented a long-awaited triumph for Tartu fans, which became possible only when the club appointed Aivar Kuusmaa as head coach.
Immediately after the winning match, Kuusmaa stated plainly: "Tartu brought me here to win the title in two years." The promise was fulfilled exactly as agreed — the champion is once again from Tartu.
Tartu's season was convincing throughout. All three major encounters against Kalev/Cramo were won — in addition to the Estonian league title, the team also crowned itself domestic cup winner. Reaching the semi-finals of the Baltic League demonstrated that the team could compete at the international level.
Under Kuusmaa's guidance, Tartu developed into a strong and cohesive collective that was able to deliver its best performance when the pressure was on. For fans, this season will certainly be remembered as one of the most significant chapters in the city's basketball history.
